Berserk
Berserk is a Japanese manga series created by Kentaro Miura, who premiered a prototype in 1988 before its official publication began in August 1989. It was initially serialized in Hakusensha's seinen manga magazine Monthly Animal House, later moving to the semimonthly magazine Young Animal in 1992. Set in a medieval Europe-inspired dark fantasy world, the story centers on the swordsman Guts, known as the "Black Swordsman," bearing a gigantic sword and an unholy mark. His journey is one of relentless vengeance against Griffith, the former leader of the mercenary group Band of the Hawk, who betrayed Guts. Exploring themes of action, adventure, drama, fantasy, and horror, Berserk is acclaimed for its detailed artwork, storytelling, and characters. By August 2025, the manga had over 70 million copies in circulation worldwide across 43 volumes, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time. Following Kentaro Miura's passing, Kouji Mori supervises and Studio Gaga illustrates the series from volume 42.
