Blue Lock
Blue Lock is a Japanese sports manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. It began serialization in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in August 2018, falling under the Shōnen demographic. The plot follows aspiring high school footballer Yoichi Isagi, who is among 300 young forwards selected by the Japan Football Union to participate in the Blue Lock program. This intense training regimen, conceived by Jinpachi Ego, aims to produce the world's most egotistical and decisive striker after Japan's defeat at the 2018 World Cup. Focusing on action, drama, and psychological sports themes, the series explores the ruthless competition where only one player will emerge to lead the national team, while the rest face permanent exclusion. As of January 2026, Blue Lock has been collected into 37 tankōbon volumes and received an anime television series adaptation by Eight Bit, which aired from October 2022.
