Yona of the Dawn
Yona of the Dawn is a Japanese shōjo manga series written and illustrated by Mizuho Kusanagi, serialized in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine from August 2009 to December 2025. The series concluded its 16-year run with chapters collected in 47 tankōbon volumes. Set in an East Asian-inspired fantasy world, the story begins on Princess Yona's 16th birthday, when her father, King Il, is murdered by her beloved cousin Su-won, who then usurps the throne of Kouka Kingdom. Forced to flee with her bodyguard Hak, Yona embarks on a journey of adventure to reclaim her throne and protect her people. Her quest involves finding the legendary four dragon warriors, leading to a narrative that blends elements of drama, comedy, and romance. The series was adapted into an anime in 2014, and a sequel anime has been announced. Viz Media licenses the manga for English release, with the first volume released in August 2016.
